January 25th, 2008 by maryse
A case study by Jane Secker of the London School of Economics and Political Science was published on the Internet in January 2008. The study, funded by the University of London Centre for Distance Education Teaching and Research Awards, aims to :
- To investigate the value of Facebook as a professional networking tool for librarians based on our experiences and the literature to date
- To explore the availability and potential value of library related applications in Facebook
- To make tentative recommendations about how libraries could use Facebook based on the experiences of the project team 1
The study follows the use of Facebook by LASSIE project members and looks at existing groups and applications for librarians. It ends with seven recommendations for best practice. You can read the full study at http://clt.lse.ac.uk/Projects/Case_Study_Five_report.pdf
